A NATIONWIDE NETWORK OF LOCAL ART INSTALLERS
Maggie Smith (the art consultant, not the actress) saw a need for a network of art installers in 1985 when she started Art Source Online, one of the industry's first e-commerce art businesses. This distinction earned her a feature in INC. Magazine. As a full-service art provider, she hired installers and based them out of her Milwaukee frame shop. Then, she met Chris K., a freelance installer from Tennessee. His work ethic, professionalism & craftsmanship impressed her greatly. Since Nashville International Airport was an inexpensive hub, he could travel efficiently, and she outsourced to him for 15 years.
In 2007, Maggie hired a web designer named Scott. He upgraded her website and took an interest in the art installation process. Scott approached Maggie with a plan to make installs more efficient. She liked the idea and made him her Installation Coordinator. Scott recruited and vetted installers to complete her nationwide projects, conducted time studies, researched local living costs, and negotiated standardized prices for future installs. With the data he collected, formulas were created that predicted installation times and labor costs. Maggie saw immediate savings in travel expenses and eventually eliminated those expenses.
On August 23rd, 2015, Scott uploaded a computer program that utilized a database of installers and integrated it with pricing, scheduling, and file-sharing services. Art Installer Network started operations as a provider of Information Services, with a system that located the closest, most qualified installer available for any art project.
Since then, Maggie has sold Art Source Online and is now the President of A.I.N. Scott manages the website and is the installer liaison. Chris is a Field Director and the Project Manager for their largest projects, having vetted over 1300 independent installers registered with the Network. All the installers work at standardized prices and practices and are eager to assist art providers with their projects.
